On Christmas Day 2022, the children in Africa Hope Ministries’ Discipleship Feeding Program in Nsaru, Lilongwe, experienced a heartfelt celebration steeped in faith and joy. The day began with a sunrise prayer service, where around 130 children gathered, singing fellowship songs in Chichewa and English, their voices echoing with hymns like “Joy to the World” under Siphathisiwe H. Banda’s guidance, who shared a message about Christ’s birth. At midday, the kids enjoyed a special lunch of nshima, chicken stew, cold drinks, and slices of Christmas cake—a rare treat that sparked smiles and chatter.
Afterward, they played lively games like tag and relay races in the dusty courtyard, laughing as they kicked new soccer balls and tossed netballs, gifts donated by international partners. Each child also received new clothes, from colorful dresses to sturdy shirts, which they proudly tried on. The day closed with more fellowship songs and prayers, leaving the children beaming with hope and a sense of God’s love.
